The Porsche Panamera S Hybrid -- a four-seater Porsche thoroughbred with fuel-efficiency supreme – It’s the next stage of intelligent performance.

 

Overview

With the 2013 the Panamera S Hybrid, you get what your heart desires and what your lifestyle needs so you can have it all: room for four, space for luggage, great fuel economy and legendary Porsche performance. It’s the typical Porsche with untypical efficiency and quietness.

Powering the Panamera S Hybrid is a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 mated to a 35kW electric motor for 380 hp combined and 428 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control sends power to the rear wheels. The hybrid’s fuel economy is an estimated 22/30/25 mpg and it goes from 0 to 60 in an impressive 5.7 seconds reaching a top speed of 175 mph.

Inside and out, the hybrid looks like the other Porsche Panameras with the exception of the hybrid logo and engine. Because of Intelligent Performance, the new Panamera S Hybrid performs like a sports car while sipping fuel like a hybrid. Its electric motor lets you drive through neighborhoods giving off virtually no emissions. The electric motor also delivers more thrust for sports car acceleration and greater flexibility with the “E-Boost” function.

If you’ve never owned a hybrid, you don’t have to learn new tricks or change your driving style. Auto start/stop function automatically stops the engine when at a stoplight and starts again as soon as your foot releases the brake. Even with the engine stopped, everything works as expected.

Standard features include Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic range adjustment, 18-inch Panamera S wheels, automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors, seat heating at the front, dual-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system and an 10-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack. Safety

Porsche stability management (PSM). As standard, the Panamera S Hybrid is equipped with enhanced Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which maintains stability even at the limits of dynamic driving performance. Sensors monitor the direction, speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the car. If the car begins to oversteer or understeer, PSM applies selective braking on individual wheels to restore stability.

Adaptive air suspension. The Porsche is also equipped with adaptive air suspension with PASM. This combined system enhances both driving dynamics and comfort at the same time. It consists of a manual lift function to limit grounding, ride-height adjustment capability, leveling system to keep the vehicle level constant, and the ability to vary the spring rate.

Lighting system. The 2013 Panamera S Hybrid has a driving light assistant to automatically turn on the lights when it gets dark. Also standard are Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic range adjustment and a headlight cleaning system and LED daytime running lights.

The lighting system features an automatic switch-off and the “Welcome Home” function, a customizable delayed switch-off timer that keeps the daytime running lights and the taillights switched on until you reach the door.

Braking system. 2013 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid has a braking system equipped with six-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers at the front and four-piston aluminum monobloc fixed calipers at the rear. It also includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for uniform deceleration and a brake pad wear indicator so you know when to replace the brake pads.

Electric parking brake. As you pull away, the new electronic parking brake automatically releases. With the hill-hold function, you can pull away without ever rolling back. You can manually activate and deactivate this safety feature.

Anti-theft protection. The Porsche hybrid is protected by an immobilizer and an alarm system with ultrasonic interior surveillance. The system secures all four doors, the hood, the trunk, the passenger compartment, the ignition and any trailer that may be attached.

Airbags. All new Panamera S Hybrid cars have a full-size driver and front passenger airbags that are inflated in two stages depending on the severity and type of accident. In less serious accidents, the airbags are only partially inflated to minimize passenger discomfort.
